Aftercare that changes with the treatment

Aftercare is not universal. A hydrating facial may need only a gentle routine, while a peel or microneedling procedure may require several days of product restrictions and strict sun protection. Follow the written plan for the exact treatment.

What should you do on treatment day?

Keep the routine simple and do not chase visible redness with extra products. Use only what the provider approved and avoid touching, picking or scrubbing treated skin.

  1. Keep it gentle

Use a mild cleanser and simple moisturizer if and when advised.

  2. Protect from sun

Use recommended broad-spectrum protection and minimize direct exposure.

  3. Avoid heat and friction

Follow treatment-specific advice about exercise, sauna, steam, swimming and facial massage.

  4. Pause active products

Restart retinoids, acids, scrubs and strong vitamin C only when advised.

02

Which early effects may be expected?

Temporary pinkness, tightness, dryness or mild sensitivity can occur after some treatments. Peels may cause planned flaking; microneedling can cause more visible redness. The expected pattern should have been explained before treatment.

  • Do not peel or pick flaking skin
  • Do not use makeup until the advised time
  • Use cool—not frozen—comfort measures only if approved
  • Take progress photographs if the provider asks
  • Attend the planned follow-up for medical procedures
03

When should you seek help?

Contact the treating provider promptly for worsening rather than improving symptoms. Urgent medical assessment is appropriate for breathing difficulty, severe swelling, eye symptoms, significant blistering or signs of infection.
